Brad, the Bones of the Deep Places, is the necklace worn by Rainclaw: a cluster of ancient bones, polished smooth by age and bound together. The bones are cold to the touch and always faintly damp, and they seem to hum softly near stone, sewer walls, ruins or buried foundations. At times the sound of tiny claws on brick comes from within them, though no creature is visible.

Through Brad, Rainclaw can call on the Rat Militia: rats of The Whiskerbond and the deep places that throw themselves in the way of a blow aimed at a friend, or boil up out of the drains in a cloud of soot, sewer steam and scurrying utility rats laden with oil vials and smoke pellets.
