The party found the diary of Lieutenant Porlank of The Eightfold (see Fel Tower Dungeon). His unit set up a watch post for "the Sentinel's Order", dug out a sand-buried ruin sealed by a disc with a damaged oculus, and seeded crystalline spores that grew a tower over a pit. The mechanism demanded a life to enter. Soldiers vanished into the pit, some unordered; the scout Horvik went down with a sending stone that only whimpered; reinforcements never came, and men began turning to stone. By mid-February Binkette was in a coma and Aniketos petrified.
