Protocol Delta
Item Campaign 3Imported from Scabard, not yet reviewed
Protocol Delta (The Quantum Displacer):
- Concept: A sophisticated device that uses quantum entanglement to cause its target to shift randomly 20 feet in any direction, including vertically, at the start and end of their turn.
- Mechanics:
- Activation: When a character is tagged with the Quantum Displacer, they are subject to its effects until it's removed or deactivated.
- Random Movement: At the beginning and end of the affected character's turn, roll a d8 to determine the direction of the shift (1-4 for cardinal directions, 5-8 for diagonal, with an additional roll for upward or downward movement). If they're moved into a solid object or the ground, they take 5d10 force damage as a representation of the violent reentry into solid matter.
- Counterplay: The device can be detected and removed with a successful Arcana check or similar means, depending on the level of enchantment and security Jorim has implemented.
- In-Game Discovery: The party might encounter this device during combat with an Eightfold agent, noticing their erratic and involuntary movement. Further investigation or consultation with knowledgeable NPCs can reveal the nature of the device.
- Strategic Implications: The Quantum Displacer adds a layer of chaos to any encounter, forcing both the party and their enemies to adapt to the unpredictable movements. It can disrupt formations, interfere with spellcasting, and potentially cause environmental hazards to become more dangerous.
