Protocol Nu

Protocol Nu (The Elemental Reservoir):

• Concept: A device worn by members of The Eightfold that absorbs expended magical energy from spell slots used near them, storing this energy for Jorim to utilize later.
• Mechanics:
  • Energy Collection: For each spell slot expended within a certain radius of the collector, a point is added to the device's reservoir.
  • Usage: Jorim can later use these points to enhance her spells, activate other devices, or perhaps even fuel larger, more sinister plans. Its full capabilities are not yet known.
  • Inadvertent Assistance: If the party takes a collector, they gain a +1 to AC as the device provides a protective barrier. However, their spellcasting continues to contribute to the reservoir, unknowingly aiding Jorim.
• In-Game Discovery: The party might notice the collectors on defeated Eightfold members or sense a magical drain when casting spells in their vicinity. Capturing and analyzing a device can reveal its purpose and the potential danger it represents.
• Strategic Implications: The Elemental Reservoir introduces a moral and strategic dilemma, forcing the party to consider the consequences of their spellcasting and weigh the benefits of using the device against the potential risks.
