The High Smoke Point
Place Campaign 4Terraced olive-oil refineries in the southern hills above Sandwater Slough, home of the Olive Garden complex where Slick works.
The High Smoke Point (the High-Smoke-Point) is the terraced refinery district in the southern hills above Sandwater Slough, stepped along the slope beneath the olive groves like an industrial vineyard of iron and stone. Screw presses longer than wagons turn day and night, copper pipes feed settling vats cut into the bedrock, and millions of litres of oil sit in cisterns and reservoirs above the city at any time; if they failed, the lower city would drown ten feet deep in gold. Its heart is the Olive Garden industrial complex, run by McScrooge, beneath which Slick keeps the ancient machinery running as the Techno-Friar of the Sump. Slick's family, the Von Pesto-Gallons, were once nobility of the High-Smoke-Point.
Also known as High-Smoke-Point, The High-Smoke-Point, The Olive Garden, Olive Garden.
