Star Scorpion Command Node

Item Campaign 4 · The Godscar

Bracelet of rings taken from a skeleton in Rillachor, bearing the Star Scorpion Guild's sigil.

Star Scorpion Command Node

Wondrous item (requires attunement)

Necessary Wildness Surveyor. Within 1 mile of an entrance to a sealed Necessary Wildness, you know the direction of the nearest entrance, whether its seal is Stable, Strained or Failing, and whether it has been disturbed in the past year. It can't tell what lies beyond the seal or penetrate planar boundaries.

Residual Reserve. You gain 2 additional 1st-level spell slots.

Planar Resonance. Cast Detect Evil and Good once per long rest without a slot or material components; detected creatures appear as faint aqua silhouettes traced in geometric scorpion sigils.

Inherited Memory. Advantage on Intelligence (History) checks about ancient civilisations, planar lore, residuum engineering and buried history.

Guild Seal Interface. Works as an authorisation seal for some ancient mechanisms, locks and infrastructure of Star Scorpion Guild origin.

HomebrewD&D Beyond

The Star Scorpion Command Node is a gauntlet-like bracelet with rings that Slick took from a skeleton by a magic door in Rillachor (the skull charred around the eyes). It is a work of The Star Scorpion Guild, whose sigil it carries; its symbols closely resemble the King in Yellow seal on The Golden Envelope. It has a D&D Beyond homebrew entry.

A heavy cuff of brass and silvered steel wraps the wrist and lower forearm, linked by fine articulated channels to two rings worn on the index and middle fingers. Each ring bears a flat geometric seal: a stylised scorpion of sharp lines and crescents around pale aqua stones that seem to catch and hold the light. The piece is too large and too deliberate to be ornamental; it feels engineered. Worn, the metal tightens and settles into precise alignment, and the rings adjust to the fingers until it fits, correctly. In certain places the stones glow faintly with a steady, patient light, like something recognising its surroundings. Pressed against stone, metal or mechanisms, the seals sometimes draw a response: a hum, a shift, a memory of motion.
