Hor's revenge

SAM went alone at night to the Temple of Hor, found it locked, and took up a revenge posting from a labourer whose boss, Valen, hadn't paid him. A run-in with the guards ended in a bribe. Xosomasaux learned the city's underbelly, and hidden ways around the lift system, at the Baxin Axe inn. Olaf tested a bag of holding by shouting a message to "his plane people".

The fishbowl turned out to show a live, enchanted view of The Wreck of the Covenant. Ebony wild-shaped into an anchovy to investigate and saw the back half of the ship wrapped in tentacles; SAM recognised the creature as the same kind that downed his ship "back at end days". Every member of The Broken Bones had a monkey's-paw deal, except perhaps Duhm.

Next morning Ebony drew another card at the bazaar and summoned an Avatar of Death. He killed it in elephant-dragon form, but two of the three bazaar shopkeeper brothers died helping him, and he ended the day crying in a dumpster. Meanwhile the party followed Valen (who secretly paid for a child at an orphanage) to the lift. Xosomasaux shot a guard through the skull, and SAM tackled Valen out of the lift, breaking his legs, then stabilised him with a goodberry and told him not to be a bad employer.
