Duhm

Duhm (also spelled Dhum and Dumm) is a huge, bulky warforged with a tiny head. He was the one living warforged produced at The Nascent Fields in the sixteen years after the Skyfire, and he went to sea with the pirates of The Broken Bones. He was among the crew that attacked the party in the campaign's opening episode.

The party came to believe he was a cleric and acolyte of Orcus, and he was in fact Orcus's agent (not Orcus himself). The party suspected he was a former primus who fled Mechanus after poisoning its pool; in truth he had been a Secundus of Mechanus, in Regulus, a paragon of logic and law who secretly longed for freedom. Orcus whispered an offer of liberty in exchange for servitude, Duhm fell, and he was stripped of his station and twisted in form to match his new master. He kept Mechanus's methods, seeking to impose undeath's chaos through order, and built The Dreadnought of the Undying Sun to do it. Every Broken Bone had a monkey's-paw deal with The King In Yellow, except perhaps Duhm. He wanted The Damaged Scrying Orb, which weakens the walls between planes, and the party feared he meant to use it against the Divine Gate or to help a Great Modron March. When the party raided the King in Yellow's contracts, Duhm and Kenway were the only Broken Bones left alive.

Breaking "Dhum's contract with Orcus" became one of the three aims of Sunder Infernal Pact. Thekallan warned the party that Dhum would be looking for a good place to summon an army. The campaign ended with The Siege of Talonkeep against him in 1034 PC. Dhum led a corrupted march of a million modrons on an interplanar invasion, and had built himself a massive robot body; SAM sacrificed himself to destroy it.
