A dead man with a memory problem and a knack for machines.

Before

Olaf Atlason is old. He was a slave of the drow in Dubarozan, and had a family he knew nothing of. An illithid began to eat his brain and was chased off before it finished; Gurgle found what was left of him in The Burg and put him back together, a reborn, but his mind was damaged. Before his capture he had been a guild artisan.

At the end of campaign 2 he learned that his family had been rescued by the dwarves of Kheledzund, and that he has a grandchild.

Notes

  • He autopsied a mechanical scorpion and found an odd power cell he had never seen before, inside a body of gears and chains that worked oddly quietly.

  • Toril, Archon of the Astral Sea wants an artifact that was stolen from Fort Obsidian.

  • He dreamed of swimming up through a black liquid into a temple of some kind, and he had his original arms.

  • He noted a temple to Myrkul on Shadowvar Island in Carson waters, and a small one in Reefwatch.

  • Killed Burzum (1034-03-25 PC, per Burzum's page).

  • Carries the scent of ceremorphosis, which the creatures of Grulgloth Collector in the Deep's domain can smell.

  • When Angar the Hull Breaker nearly sank the party's ship on The Harstane Abyss, he put two bags of holding inside each other and was swept, with the dragon turtle, into The Astral Sea. He made a deal there with Toril, the Archon of the Astral Sea, and returned by way of Sigil; Angar is still floating in the Astral Sea.

  • Took up the quest for the relic of Myrkul, whose body floats in the Astral Sea guarded by Toril, Archon of the Astral Sea: this was his side of the deal, in return for the Archon's guidance through the city of Sigil. Heishen is likely to seek it too.

  • His hand is one of the fiendish essences noted at The Unseelie Court.

Campaign 2

Olaf is an elderly artificer (Armorer) with robotic, perhaps detachable, limbs and thunder gauntlets.
