Grulgloth, Collector in the Deep

Grulgloth previously lived in the deep tunnels below the Ridgeway, below the dwarven towns.

Grulgloth dealt mostly with the Drow city of Dubarozan though they cut off contact when the ilithid moved in below the city and started to hunt their scouts.

They will smell the ceremorphosis on Olaf.

Upon arriving in the Khevasa Wildlands, Grulgloth found a sphere of Broomstone that had been damaged. It enhanced their senses to the point that they started to sense whispering from the far realm that drove them quite mad. They gave up on their quest to seek out the source of the draconic suummons and obsessed over the sphere, finding a nearby cave and descending into it to protect and spend time with it and its whispers.

Eventually, a small subterranean Yuan-ti tribe began worshipping the dragon, and sacrificing villagers so that Grulgloth no longer needed to leave the cave to hunt.

The machinations of the whispers and indeed their true source is unknown.

Grulgloth's greatest fear is absorption by the ilithid and losing their mind, not realising they have already lost it.

In campaign 2

In 1034 the party met lizardfolk in the Underdark who spoke of "winged protect the clutch… voices heard provide wisdom", tied to Grulgloth.
