The party found The Prophecy of the Arbiter of Twilight and spent time under a memory geas with Halstock, an agent of Lord Cedric's network. The memories snapped back in fragments: Halstock boasting of their start at Penumbra Massif, where a council fell into disarray; a shipyard taken over without a sword drawn in The Bay of Swords; Rookfall's council "dancing to a tune they haven't even heard"; and the Fungal Mire as the one place where Cedric's ambitions were faltering. Staff and guards had left the village for the cliff monastery on Halstock's orders. Sleeping would have wiped the memories.
