Sister Sandra is a cheerful human travelling sister and missionary of the Star Dancer (Lliira), attached to the goddess's temple in Sandwater Slough, The Star Dancer's Stage. She is known across the city for organising festivals, looking after the poor, comforting the bereaved and urging the city's many faiths to work together. She is usually to be found helping to set up a celebration, teaching children to dance, or collecting for relief in the poorer districts.
Many priests regard her as an unusually able organiser, one who can get rival temples to share in civic celebrations despite their old quarrels. Few can say exactly when she came to the city, yet nearly everyone feels they have known her for years.
She was the Night Visitor who called on Brother Oils during the party's dealings with the Baron over the undercity contract, asking about the party, and left him the fancy robe he has worn ever since.
