Netmenders' Court
Place Campaign 4Covered net-yard on Sandwater Slough's docks where Taz'Or Ka worked as a barrel hauler.
Netmenders' Court is a covered stone courtyard on The Wharfward Strip of Sandwater Slough, roofed in stretched sailcloth and knotted netting and hung with drying nets, floats and hooks, with repair benches along its walls; the air smells of salt, tar, fish and olive mash. It is the yard of a fishing cooperative, and disputes between crews are arbitrated on the spot.
Taz'Or Ka worked here unloading barrels of pitch, resin and oil sealant, paid by the record-keeper Issh'tel, who told him he carried "like a hunter. Not a dockhand."
