The Dreadnought of the Undying Sun

Vehicle Campaign 2 · After Skyfire

Duhm's castle-tall war construct, radiant and necrotic at once, built to corrupt the land and bend the Weave towards undeath.

The Dreadnought of the Undying Sun was Duhm's masterpiece: a gargantuan construct he built after falling from Mechanus into the service of Orcus. It married the two halves of its maker. Mechanus's engineering gave it its frame, and it channelled both the radiant power Duhm once wielded and the necrotic power he came to serve. It was a holy abomination.

Purpose

It was meant to march across the land and corrupt it. More than that, Duhm meant it as a conduit. With every land it conquered, the Weave would unravel and reshape a little further towards undeath, towards a world ruled by Orcus where undeath is the rule and not the exception.

Description

The Dreadnought stood as tall as a castle keep: a colossal suit of armour forged from dark, necrotic-infused metal that drank the light and gave off an eerie twilight glow. Archaic runes covered it, pulsing with radiant and necrotic energy, and spectral light poured from its eye slits. Its gauntlets had fingers the size of trebuchets that struck with necrotic force, and its palms could project beams of radiant light. Its stride shook the earth. Around it daylight dimmed and the air grew heavy with dread.

Duhm rode at its heart, protected by layers of unholy metal and potent wards, and controlled it through tubes, wires and arcane interfaces, weaving his spells into its attacks.

Its end

At The Siege of Talonkeep, the final battle of campaign 2, Duhm led a corrupted march of a million modrons in his robot body. SAM sacrificed himself to end the Dreadnought.
