The Siege of Talonkeep

The Siege of Talonkeep was the final battle of campaign 2, played on 2023-07-19, against Dhum.

Scribble had planned to fortify Origin Island against Dhum, with fake terrain, Mighty Fortress, magical sigils, and a shield from his godson Quorlinn against Dhum's tricks; Talonkeep seems to have been the result. The defenders held a star fort raised with Mighty Fortress, with a zigzag ditch of difficult terrain, sigils on the ramp and beach, rocky shoals to the south, and Ebony's druid magic (mould earth, snare, spike growth). Allied forces included foot soldiers, wizard minions, a barbarian riding a dragon, and druids. Bragg and Morgaine from campaign 1 also fought, and failure would have left the world to a zombie apocalypse.

The party won. As an agent of Orcus, Dhum led a corrupted march of a million modrons on an interplanar invasion, and had built himself a massive robot body, The Dreadnought of the Undying Sun. SAM sacrificed himself to destroy it. Ebony used their vestige to revive him, at the cost of 3 points of Intelligence that left Ebony simple; months later Scribble tracked Ebony down and restored their intellect with a risky Wish.

In the epilogue the heroes of yore returned to their lands, the fighters of The Cemetery could never recapture their glory, the druids returned to their grove, and the wizards of The City of Birds were emboldened by their cohort's victory.
