Karkos is the benevolent crab demigod of Saratan. Part of the capital, Vistas Landing, is built on his shell: a Roman-style city on the back of a gargantuan living crab, which the party nicknamed "Crab Town". By 1034 PC some citizens were questioning whether Karkos was truly divine or immortal.
In campaign 2 a chest the party escorted was locked in a vault inside Karkos, and the Queen of Saratan kept access to it through a bracelet that bites into her skin. Karkos had a contract with The King In Yellow; the Queen of Saratan believed it kept him from re-entering the cycle of life and death, and the party recovered it in The Iron City of Dis. When Olaf tore up the King's contracts in December 2022 (real time), Karkos was "allowed to die".
