City of Brass

The City of Brass is the efreeti capital on the Elemental Plane of Fire. Parties from Eavaros have visited it twice.

• Campaign 1: "the City of Brass" was one of the Fatemakers' story arcs in 2020 (real time). There they met Mitrix, a tiefling who lives in the city and said she might go to the Feywild. In the epilogue to The Skyfire, the Fatemakers' associate Flames returned to the city. He worked in the cindersweeps, designing a new class of baghlas ship for the sultan from his knowledge of planar vessels.
• Campaign 3: Mitrix appeared again in March 2024. Shearek had killed her wife, and she wanted revenge. She could be persuaded to help if the party sweetened the deal. There was also a door on the far side of the scene, smoking slightly.

The city in the wider planes

The city floats slowly through the hottest reaches of the Plane of Fire. It sits on a vast brass hemisphere tens of miles across, ringed by a brass curtain wall, and the wall gives the city its name. The Grand Sultan of the efreet rules with absolute authority and leaves daily business to a vizier and to six Great Pashas who handle dealings with the Material Plane. Even efreet who live elsewhere count the city as their capital. By the sultan's will the plane's fire is suppressed inside the walls so that trade can flourish, but the city is hard on good-hearted visitors, partly because of its many portals to the Nine Hells. Around it, the Obsidian Fields grow fire-plane crops, and slaves mine tin, copper and diamonds. By day the streets are crowded markets. At night the Illuminated enforce a strict curfew, and offenders can lose a hand or their life. Slaves wear bracelets naming their masters, and visitors who default on a loan can easily find themselves enslaved.
