The Citadel
Place Campaign 2Campaign 4Uldrick's dwarven city, sealed out of time in a residuum sphere in the Feywild since 1020 PC: 27 years outside, about 6,750 inside.
The Citadel is the dwarven city of Uldrick. In 1020 PC, just after The Skyfire, it was taken out of the world: it vanished from the Restless Expanse west of Sandwater Slough, shrunk to a few feet across, sealed inside a residuum sphere and moved into the Feywild. Time inside runs at 250 Citadel years to each outside year, so by 1047 about 6,750 years have passed within. The dwarves rebuilt under an elected council and advanced their engineering and residuum science, keeping the outside world alive only as layered myth. For fifty years the winters have lengthened and power has been rationed. The guilds built the Conduit, which at the cost of weeks of power sent one emissary, Uldrick, out in 1047 PC, chosen on the nomination of Guildmaster Kromryl.
Outside, the city is remembered as the Seed of Dale, whose caravans traded with the Slough within living memory and prayed at The House of Amber before travelling west; the party suspects the two names are one, drifted by language. According to Branock, four years into the desertification of their lands, agents of the north offered the dwarves a deal, and the Amber Queen has told Uldrick it was a dark deal that he must end.
Earlier sightings (campaign 2). In 1034 PC Shoshana showed the campaign 2 party "the dwarven city, in a terrarium of residuum, minuscule and crafting an army of machines" in the Feywild; modrons and war machines were being built inside the bubble, and the party "introduced nukes to the dwarves in the bubble".
The Seed of Dale. Outside the Citadel, people who aren't out of time remember it by its old name, the Seed of Dale. Its own inhabitants call it the Citadel.
Residuum. The Citadel sits within a residuum sphere, and residuum is how all of its magic works.
Tunda's deal. The King In Yellow banished the great dwarven city of the Expanse to the Feywild at the request of Tunda Deepshaper of the Broken Bones, so that its people would escape famine and drought. The campaign 2 party learned of the deal from her owl, Sinatra.
Also known as Seed of Dale, The Conduit.
