The Hall of Navigators

Place Campaign 4 · The Godscar

Ancient chamber of tuning forks in buried Rillachor, linked to the desertification of the west.

The Hall of Navigators is one of the districts of Rillachor, the astral-elf city beneath Sandwater Slough. The party reached it in June 2026 (real time), hearing notes played on the way that stopped the moment they arrived. Inside were a series of tuning forks, one far more worn than the rest and each sounding a different note, and a screen with a tree burned into it. The party guessed the room to be some 600 years old, an overestimate: its machinery dates from roughly 580 to 640 PC, a century before Rillachor was abandoned around 720, and has been unpowered for centuries. Even so the party linked it to the desertification of The Restless Expanse, which began only some thirty years ago: they concluded that the desertification is an acceleration of whatever this room once manipulated (see The Great Evaporation), set off by the fall of Herentor's veil. Here Rainclaw slapped what they took to be Thistle Jack, and Slick kept a vial of his blood.

The Seven Journals of Mechanus, which Slick found in Rillachor the same day, describe a Navigator's Organ beneath the city's old transport district, excavated and partly reactivated in the project's years 212 to 267 (roughly 580 to 640 PC); their chronology gives the hall's machinery its date.
