Creatis

Creatis is the largest and most militaristic nation south of the equator. Campaign 4 calls it the Creratis Imperium. It is ruled from Fort Obsidian, which was built where the last battle of The Calamity was fought. Its ruler is the primarch Heishen the Deathless, the latest of a long line of Heishens.

Dragonborn dominate its people and its army. Creatis believes it keeps The Beastlands at bay with a monthly tithe of livestock floated out to the island of the Offering; in truth the tithe feeds Heishen. It is allied with Duskmere, which deliberately withheld from Creatis how to counter illusion and enchantment.

• Campaign 2 (1034 PC): the party flew in on a Duskmere airship, explored Fort Obsidian and the Fungal Wall, and dealt with Heishen, whose King in Yellow contract Olaf later tore up.
• Campaign 3: a Source lay at Penumbra Massif, which the Eightfold general Arion was sent to investigate.
• Campaign 4 (1047 PC): the Imperium lies south of Sandwater Slough. It is an expansionist empire that "paused, not out of weakness, but patience". For thirty years it has pushed south instead, absorbing the fungal realm of Mycelia. It had also been non-expansionist for exactly sixteen years (conflict #51). The waning of its imperial ambitions, and of slavery, lines up with the influx of dragonborn into the Slough. The Slough's dragonborn constabulary makes Creatis's shadow hard to ignore. Heishen still holds King in Yellow paper at Fort Obsidian, and Brother Oils ran grifts through Shore Market, Fort Obsidian and the Pallid Spire. Three dragonborn factions (black, white and gem), each tied to a dragon, have pushed into the Slough. The white faction worships the Rime Lord.

Notes

The Capital City is Fort Obsidian, built into the mountainside, where the last battle of The Calamity occurred. The city has grown up around the obsidian rock into which Mol'maroch The Nethershaper was transformed by Herentor.

Other notable locations include Shore Market, a known slave trading hub and gateway to The Restless Expanse. The Pallid Spire, a military training facility and strategically located last line of defence against the denizens of The Beastlands. The port city of Stillpoint, a much-needed trading hub with both The Chitin Isles and Saratan.

The Fungal Wall separates Creatis from Mycelia in the south-east and is considered impenetrable, and while there are paths through the Dragontooth Mountains to the west, they are considered extremely inhospitable.

The border towns of Dustgate and Threeways in the south-west separate Creatis from The Scars, a desolate canyon marked wasteland, and The Restless Expanse, a colossal desert that was former grassland and me to the Dwarves.

Within the natural harbour between Fort Obsidian and the Beastlands there is a small island where yearly sacrifices of the weakest children from Creatis are made, to sate the hunger of primal gods.

The final location of interest is Penumbra Massif , an isolated valley settlement deep within the Dragontooth Mountains.
