Burzum

Myths and legends abound. The mostly circulated story is that around 300 years ago Burzum came to The Free in search of minerals, wealth and war, with 10 boat fulls of orcish adventurers, the strongest stock of his homeland.

They clashed with the mechanical entities of the Islands for many years before Burzum defeated their leader in single combat and in conquering them established a lasting peace, as the Warforged joined with the orcs to establish the city of Luggard Dror.

In Reality, Burzum tricked a warforged woman Leaxis into letting him into the Genesis Machine, at which point he tore the Soul Luxon from the machine, which caused a ripple explosion that disabled all the nearby Gen 1 warforged and tore his arm from his body. The machine reset some days later, but every warforged since has been a Gen 2 (until the events of the Skyfire which led to empty husks being created.)

Burzum, born around 700 PC, was about thirty-four at the raid (about 734 PC, see The Nascent Silence) and forty when he founded Luggard Dror, around 740 PC.

Burzum, after building the city of Luggard Dror built and disappeared to a demiplane known as The Empire of Soot and using the power of the Soul Luxon was able to artificially extend his life through eldritch magics.

He is somewhat revered as the founder of a great peace, but it is not likely any alive know his true story.

In campaign 2

The party first heard of "Berzen's conquering of the land" as an explanation for why no warforged had come to life for 16 years. In 1034 an oathbreaker paladin and genie-pact hexblade fought the party; his patron was his grandfather, and his "lamp" was The Empire of Soot.

Midzen Id splits its architecture into pre-Burzum and post-Burzum work. Burzum's Bridge crosses the town, and a statue of him stands in the pagoda of the Veneration of Burzum.
