The City of Birds

Place Campaign 2 · After SkyfireCampaign 3 · The Twilight Anarchy

The Capital of the Therian Confederacy

The City of Birds was founded about six hundred years before 1034 PC by Elifir and Aviros, the elf Eilifir and the aarakocra Aviros, when they united their peoples in a confederacy; they built it as a symbol of that union.

The City of Birds, with its perpetual fog, has several distinct wards, or neighborhoods, each with its own unique character and atmosphere.
The Rookery: This is the ward where the snooty and reactionary college is located, perched high on the mountain and filled with winding pathways, ancient minarets, and gaslamps. It is a prestigious and exclusive area, with a focus on knowledge, tradition, and power.

The Warren: This is a densely populated, working-class neighborhood located in the valley below the Rookery to the east, it sits in the shadow of the peaks. It is characterized by narrow streets, cramped housing, and a bustling market. The residents of the Warren would likely be the city's lower-income residents

The Roost: This is a more affluent neighborhood located on the outskirts of the city. It has larger homes, well-manicured lawns, and a more suburban feel. The residents of the Roost would likely be upper-middle class and would value their privacy and seclusion.

The Nest: Due south of the Rookery and extending from the pathways up, This would be considered the city's downtown area, filled with tallish buildings, shops, restaurants, and other amenities. It is a bustling and vibrant neighborhood, with a diverse population of residents and visitors. This is where Longhands residence is located.
There is large public square referred to as the Wingspan here that is a bustling and vibrant area, filled with vendors, street performers, and other attractions. The statues of various famous city residents from history add an element of civic pride and history or menace depending on how you feel about the government, to the square. In addition to there is public transport via cable car to the Rookery that costs a silver piece.

The Aviary: This is a neighborhood located on the outskirts of the city, where the fog is less dense, and the city's inhabitants can see the sky and the birds. It would be a quiet, peaceful area with a lot of greenery and nature. It is an expanding neighborhood that is always under construction. As the residents have built over the city wall, it no longer serves a defensive purpose. Instead, it serves as little more than a visual boundary between the city and the surrounding wildlands.

In campaign 2

The City of Birds is a duocracy, with an aarakocra prime minister and an elvish prime minister, and "Confederacy" covers both governments. In 1034 Scribble took up residence at Castle Scribble and set his Magen to help Woodchop with the cult of Quorlinn. After the victory at Talonkeep, the city's wizards were emboldened by their cohort's success.

In campaign 3

In October 2024 (real date) the party passed through the City of Birds and bought broomsticks there before travelling to the Plane of Air.
