Alaric Sunstrike

Alaric Sunstrike is Kael Sunstrike's father, once the foreman of the Shade Hollow tin mine. The plague didn't kill him, but it cost him the use of his legs, and he could no longer run the mine. It left him infirm and old before his time. He lives in a small two-bedroom house on the mine's northern edge in Shade Hollow, kept up by The Archive of Echoes, which brings him food, and Cato sends salves for his pain. He is an old friend of the foreman Borak.

Death. Alaric survived the plague, but not the raid on Shade Hollow by The Eightfold and their blue dragon. He was killed close to one of the soul anchors, and instead of passing on, his soul was shunted into a cocoon in The Shadowfell, part of The Lethernian Lattice. It stayed there until the party killed the creatures that were funnelling souls towards the release of The Harsh. Then Kael released his father's soul and let him pass on.

The debt. Alaric stayed caught in the web of The Nocturnal Loom through a generational debt down the paternal line. An unseen benefactor kept him and his wife Elara just out of the Loom's grasp; after Elara's death, the local monastery, for reasons not fully understood, gave him shelter and food. He was an infirm commoner in a wheelchair.
