The Nocturnal Loom

The Nocturnal Loom is a secret cult in the service of The Harsh that deals in information and artefacts. Its aim is to destroy The Divine Gate. The Loom knew of the Harsh all along and had always planned to raise him, and it manipulated Lord Cedric toward that end. The Harsh fell at the end of campaign 3.

The Loom steered Lord Cedric toward the Sources and The Prophecy of the Arbiter of Twilight, and planted Brenor The Storms Fury in his Eightfold. It also "implanted" agents in other ways: Reid Ransom was once a member and wanted to know why the Loom had chosen him. Its goals align with The Orb Weaver's, but they are not equal partners. An informant told the party that the Loom buried the Shadowkiln, the one tool that could undo the Harsh, beneath its own stronghold in The Regard (see The Taps). Its monks guarded the Soul Forge.

The plague. Between campaigns 2 and 3 the Loom unleashed The Plague to trap the souls of the dying, harvesting soul energy for the sundering of Zelyr, the Harsh's moon phylactery.

The Lattice. While Lord Cedric gathered souls into The Lethernian Lattice to darken the sky, the Loom planned to turn those souls to releasing The Harsh on this side of The Divine Gate.

The Sunstrike debt. The Sunstrike family of Shade Hollow owed the Loom a debt so old that no one remembered its cause. It sent young Kael Sunstrike to Rookfall to work it off, recording the city's people in a book that went blank whenever he opened it.
