Warforged Generations

Gen 1 warforged have not existed south of the equator since Burzum destroyed the Genesis Machine. Gen 1 warforged are myriad, they have hopes, dreams and emotions. They form bonds and relationships.

Gen 2 warforged were constructed between the destruction of the Genesis Machine and the Skyfire. Gen 2 warforged are utilitarian, helpful and honest but lacking in emotion, they are often taken advantage of as they have less need for sleep and downtime, and do not have families. While many residents of The Free would suggest they were friendly, the capitalistic nature of the nation see's them treated as second class citizens, though they don't seem to mind.

Gen 1s of the southern continents were all deactivated with the removal of the Soul Luxon, though Gen 1's beyond the spell cast by Herentor suffered no such fate. SAM is one such Gen 1, as is Seven and all known warforged within the Xinsi Empire, Bragglands, The Dottenland, and the Therian Confederacy.

Timeline of the generations

• Gen 1: made at the Genesis Machine in The Nascent Fields until about 300 years ago, when Burzum tricked Leaxis into letting him into the machine and tore out the Soul Luxon. The ripple disabled the nearby Gen 1s, and the line ended there. The ripple could not pass Herentor's Veil, so about a thousand Gen 1s in the north survived. They had already been cut off from the Luxon by the Veil and had never cycled. SAM is one of them.
• Gen 2: every warforged made after Burzum's raid.
• The silence of ≈1018 PC: around 1018 PC, the year before The Skyfire, living warforged stopped being created and the factories produced only empty husks. It happened at about the same time as the last Xinsi emperor's death, but the two are a coincidence, not cause and effect. The party restarted the Fields in 1034 PC, during campaign 2.

The Xinsi warforged. In the north, the Xinsi Empire found dormant warforged machines, and the mages of The Sapphire Sepulchre forcibly rended life into them, "birthing" them as servants of war. Because Herentor's Veil cut these northern Gen 1s off from the Soul Luxon, their lives were forced into them by Xinsi magic, not by the Genesis Machine's cycle.
