The Calendar
Lore Campaign 1Campaign 2Campaign 3Campaign 4The calendar of Eavaros (the Skyfire reckoning), with 12 months, an 8-day week, three moons and the Post Calamity era.
The people of Eavaros count years Post Calamity (PC), from The Calamity, which began year 0. The calendar is kept in Fantasy Calendar under the name "Skyfire". A year has 339 days in twelve months, a week has eight days, and three moons cross the sky. A day is 24 hours.
In this codex, dates are written YYYY-MM-DD in PC, with months numbered from 1 (Morning Star = 01). Fantasy Calendar's own export numbers months from 0.
Months
| # | Month | Days | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | Morning Star | 28 | Festival of the Sundering (1st); Day of Stone |
| 02 | Suns Dawn | 28 | Plainstock; Anniversary of the Ascension (18th). Fantasy Calendar spells it "Suns Daws". |
| 03 | First Seed | 28 | The Planting; Day of the Shouting Stone |
| 04 | Rains Hand | 28 | |
| 05 | Second Seed | 28 | |
| 06 | Midyear | 28 | |
| 07 | Suns Height | 28 | The Games (in alternate years) |
| 08 | Last Seed | 28 | |
| 09 | Hearth Fire | 28 | Also written Hearthfire. |
| 10 | Frost Fall | 28 | Orctoberfest |
| 11 | Suns Dusk | 28 | |
| 12 | Evening Star | 31 | Sunderings Eve (31st) |
Seasons run between a summer and a winter peak. The calendar's weather is set for Bosia: warm, dry summers with long days (sunrise 5:00, sunset 22:00) and cold winters with short days (9:00 to 17:00).
The week
The eight days of the week are Sundas, Morndas, Tirdas, Middas, Turdas, Fredas, Loredas and Mystdas. Months are 28 days long, three and a half weeks, so a month's first day falls on a different weekday each month. The players spelled Turdas "Turdass". In campaign 2 the hidden tunnel to Midzen Id opened only between 10 and 11 in the morning on Loredas or Tirdas.
The moons
| Moon | Cycle | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Shaelel | 11 days | Second and brightest moon |
| Samue | 30 days | Each new moon, a warforged body woke at the Nascent Fields (campaign 2) |
| Zelyr | 56 days | Rises golden for two nights every 56 days. The third and smallest moon, little more than a rock. Campaign 3 revealed it as an artificial moon, and it cracked. |
The moons' phases mark these nights:
- Nightpeak: Shaelel is new and Samue has barely begun to wax. This is the darkest night, and the night of the campaign 2 Nightpeak Ball.
- The Shadow of Hollow: Shaelel and Zelyr are both full while Samue is new.
- The Honey Moon: Zelyr's golden full moon.
Festivals and holy days
- The Festival of the Sundering (1 Morning Star): the empire celebrates having survived as it is for over a thousand years. Sunderings Eve (31 Evening Star) precedes it.
- Day of Stone (third Sundas of Morning Star): the dwarven celebration of great works.
- Plainstock (first Fredas of Suns Dawn): a festival on the southern plains of The Xinsi Empire, where performers from around the world play for pilgrims.
- Anniversary of the Ascension (18 Suns Dawn): the anniversary of the coronation of Maxim, first emperor of Xinsi, in 421 PC, the year Xinstock was founded. Maxim declared himself emperor before he had an empire to rule; the Xinsi Empire proper began in 716 PC. Campaign 2 began on the 613th anniversary.
- The Planting (first Mystdas of First Seed): a spring festival of farming and fertility rites.
- Day of the Shouting Stone (fourth Mystdas of First Seed): a tradition of The Burg. Barbarians gather to scream at a great boulder. The legend says the stone was once a barbarian who shouted at a larger boulder until it split, and was turned to stone himself.
- The Games (third Morndas of Suns Height, every other year): an invitation-only tournament of the empire, covering athletics, combat and more esoteric events.
- Orctoberfest (first Fredas of Frost Fall): a drinking festival in The Dottenland celebrating the ceasefire with the Burg. The Luggard Dror election of 1034 PC fell on the Turdas before it, 3 Frost Fall.
- The Honey Moon Festival (whenever Zelyr rises golden): people say the moon glows when someone, somewhere, finds true love. Tables are set out in the streets and people invite each other to platonic and romantic dates under the moon. Campaign 1 had a whole arc around "Orctoberfest and the Honeymoon Festival", and Fort Obsidian's Awedreamer holds a rooftop farmers' market while the north celebrates.
- The solstices and equinoxes are also marked.

Weekdays in this table are worked out from the calendar's day count. They agree with the one fixed point in play, that 3 Frost Fall 1034 was a Turdas.
The present year is 1047 PC: campaign 4 opened on 18 Suns Dusk 1047 PC. The campaign years once listed on the codex front page (1006, 1008, 1014 and 1032) were guesses and are superseded by the dates from play above. Scabard's "1026 AC" for the fall of the Prismatic College was an error for 1034 PC.
The 2019 planet notes give Eavaros a 336-day orbit, but the calendar year has 339 days. Campaign 2's start date was chosen by rolling a d339.
