The House of Amber
Place Campaign 4Temple of the Amber Queen on Sandwater Slough's southern slopes, once the dwarves' waypoint west; an amber gate lies beneath it.
The House of Amber is the temple of the Amber Queen (Chauntea, goddess of agriculture and harvest; see The New Gods) on The Southern Slopes of Sandwater Slough, near Olive Press Row. It is built of honey-coloured stone veined with amber, with a carved sheaf of grain beneath a crown over the door; inside, tools, sheaves and name-tokens are sealed in resin. Its iconography is amber, grain, crowns and harvest tools.
Civic contract. Agricultural blessings, harvest rites, and the protection of stored food and lineage goods.
The temple's ward is the blind firbolg Branock. Western traders, including the dwarven caravans of the Seed of Dale (see The Citadel), historically checked in here before journeying on; the Amber Queen never supported slavery. Beneath the temple, roots split a sloping corridor down to a cavern holding a pool of amber about four feet across, and a hyperspherical gate (white at the centre, orange at the edges, not physical) that only dwarves can reach. In their second session the party cleared corrupted spider-rats and a ratfolk warlock from the cavern, and Uldrick communed with the Amber Queen there: "A dark deal was made, that you must end… seek out the deal maker."
Also known as House of Amber, Temple of the Amber Queen.
