The Dwarves

The dwarves of Eavaros hold great cities beneath The Ridgeway in the north, but they are "suspiciously missing from the southern continents".

The north. The dwarven holds of the Ridgeway guard the Xinsi border in both directions. In campaign 1 the Fatemakers knew:

• Kheledzund, whose great bridge collapsed into the Underdark during The Skyfire. Jokit later helped run the city.
• Gabadush Garrison, the southernmost dwarf city.
• Duergar and "dark dwarves", whose lost god is The Harsh (campaign 3).

The Day of Stone, a dwarven celebration of great works, falls on the third Sundas of Morning Star (The Calendar).

The south. The desert dwarves once lived on the grasslands of The Restless Expanse west of Sandwater Slough. Western traders checked in at the House of Amber, whose goddess (the Amber Queen) would not tolerate slavery. Four years into the desertification "a deal" was made to save them, and they vanished overnight. In the Slough people say it happened "nearly thirty years ago"; in fact the Citadel was taken out of time in 1020 PC, just after the Skyfire.

Their city, The Citadel (perhaps the "Seed of Dale" of Slough memory), was shrunk, sealed in a residuum prism and moved into the Feywild. Inside it, about 250 years pass for every year outside, so the dwarves have lived some eight thousand years. In 1034 PC the campaign 2 party, guests of Aunty Suzie in the Feywild, looked down on "the dwarven city, in a terrarium of residuum, minuscule and crafting an army of machines", and introduced its dwarves to explosives. In 1047 PC the Citadel's Conduit sent Uldrick back out into the world.

Other traces include the Night Caller whistle, a relic of the Durga dwarves (campaign 2).
