The Chest Of Great Treasure
Item Campaign 2The macguffin, a chest that stores the tuning fork for planar travel to the nine hells.
The party escorted the chest south aboard The Rex in 1034. The pirates of The Broken Bones believed it held "the Fork", an interplanar tuning fork that Saber had promised to Meradana, and that someone had tipped them off the party carried it. The pirates seized the box but could not open it: a talking head, that of the party's fallen companion General Xalner, claimed only the escorts could, and dispelling, Knock, brute force, a mammoth's stomping and a gunshot all failed. The party later recovered it and returned to Vistas Landing with the chest and the tuning fork (Return to Vistas Landing). The Fork let the party use Plane Shift to reach the Hells and retrieve the contracts (see List of Contracts).
Also known as the chest, the box, the Fork.
