The Aspect

The Aspect was the great enemy of The Fatemakers: Ulamog, an interdimensional being from beyond wildspace. The party killed it at the end of campaign 1, in the ruins of old Xinstock where New Xinstock now stands. Delin signed his orders "in the name of the Aspect", and Sim had been in league with him for years.

What the party learned, mostly from Wraith's eavesdropping while Sim's captive and from their own research:

• The Aspect is a primordial being that predates the world. The gods worked to keep it out of the mortal planes.
• "Aspect" is a term for eldritch nightmares from beyond reality that can consume the powers of gods.
• In the pre-Calamity flashback, the "god" that the hero Kilseth served turned out to be an aspect of a death-being, who wanted the betrayers of the Calamity held in stasis so it could rise later.

In January 2021 the party killed an agent of the Aspect in a temple to a dead god in the Shadowfell, and Bragg complained there were "wheels within wheels" with it. The party reached "the lair of the aspect" before The Skyfire, the "second calamity" that wrecked the northern nations. Fifteen years later, rumour in the empire held that the last emperor died at the Aspect's hands (see The Unseen Emperor).

Scabard names the Aspect as Ullamog the Ceaseless Hunger (spelled Ulamog on The Skyfire).

The cults the party ran into, such as The Covenant of the Amaranth Coin, were manipulated by Delin, the Aspect's warlock.

The party's notes contain the line "The Aspect: Zisain was his patron until he left his service", without saying whose patron is meant.
