The Chitin Isles

The Chitin Isles are a group of independent territories run from Reefwatch. They are notorious for bureaucracy and tax evasion. The Span, a 50-mile bridge, links them to Creatis, and Stillpoint is their trading port on the Creatis side. In campaign 4 The SCP operate in the Chitin Isles as one of their five cities.
Some of the islands are great carapaces, on the larger of which archaeologists dig, among them Melody Dawmon's team at The Ruins of Oghma's Academy. The isles have their own currency and customs rules: at Hanging Suncloud on the Span, travellers pay a toll and declare whether they are citizens of the isles or of Creatis, whether they have recently been in the Scars or Hysteria, Mycelia beyond the Fungal Wall or the open Red Wastes, whether they carry more than 500 gp in Chitin Isles currency, restricted goods or soil, and where they will stay in Reefwatch.
