The partys first approach to Rookfall.

Arrival Scene: As the party descends into Rookfall, they're enveloped in the Veil's perpetual dusk. The subdued light gives the city an almost dreamlike quality, with the architecture and the inhabitants moving in a dance of shadow and subtlety. The streets of Hillview offer panoramic views of the city below, with the Panopticon Zenith standing out as a prominent feature against the dim skyline. This tower, once a symbol of surveillance and control, now serves as a protective watchtower, its purpose realigned with the city's newfound values.

The atmosphere in Rookfall is one of cautious revival. The docks in The Tides, once teeming with the raucous sounds of trade and toil, now hum with a more restrained energy as the city rebuilds from its losses. The party can sense the collective memory of the Skyfire's destruction in the air, a reminder of the city's resilience and determination to rise from adversity. Though it's been 26 years, the revolution that followed has made the recovery slow.

Meeting with the High Cantor.

12 of the 20 members of the Vigils Custodians will be present.

Probing the Lieutenant's Vanishing in the Fogsteps:

• Brother Gribzak (Goblin, Rogue): His unconventional and stealthy skills make him well-suited to discreetly probe the Fogsteps without revealing himself. He'd be gathering clues and tracking movements while staying hidden.
• Brother Jorlan (Drow, Monk): Has been watching from across the river, and is fairly certain no mercenaries have left the Fogsteps.

Jorlan had spent some time monitoring the main bridge in and out of the Fogsteps and conversing with the city guard to try and find any strange undertakings. Nothing to report. Gribzak has been making himself a regular at a few of the more dive-like restaurants in the Fogsteps, out of uniform, of course.

Researching Lord Cedric's History and Title:

• Sister Nerin (Elf, Sorcerer): With her focus on documenting mystical and historical events, she'd be researching the revolution and how Cedric managed to retain his title, possibly unearthing details of his deals and the family members he betrayed.
• Archivist Eilistraee (Elf, Wizard): Her stewardship of knowledge and wisdom would be invaluable in understanding the political and historical intricacies of Cedric's position and actions during the revolution.

It turns out that during the Revolution, the government considered Cedric to be a bit of an imbecile, and turned him, he was offered to keep his title, in exchange for revealing the hiding places of various other nobles who were later executed. Cedric was the youngest of 4.

Investigating the Nature of the "Source":

• Sister Lilly (Human, Warlock): Her pact with an otherworldly patron grants her insights into the mystical, making her well-suited to investigate the elusive nature of the "source" and its potential connections to shadow magic.
• Cantor Serin (Human, Warlock): Her experience with handling dangerous artefacts and delving into the depths of magic would be crucial in theorising about the nature and power of the "source."

Some sort of magical anchor, not dissimilar to the artefacts that the artificers of old used to summon the Veil over 400 years ago, but infinitely more powerful, The Veil anchors attract shadow magic, this seems to be different and larger, but what sort of magic does it attract? We can't say at this point without getting one to study.

Overall Coordination and Strategy:

• High Cantor: Overseeing the entire operation, ensuring that the investigations are conducted without revealing themselves to the Eightfold, and coordinating the different strands of inquiry.
• Cantor Miriel (Drow, Wizard): As an elder and advisor, she would provide strategic counsel and insights into the investigations, ensuring that the efforts are well-aligned and efficient.

They will suggest that they are going to have to look further afield to find Cedric now, but if the orb is in the city, there is a real risk of something like what happened in Shade Hollow happening here and that needs to be the first priority.

Reid's patron will suggest that the party take Gribzak for a meal of noodles
