The Burg

The Burg is a northern nation of barbarian tribes, neighbour to The Xinsi Empire and The Dottenland. The western Burg is tundra plain roamed by nomadic barbarians "with strange transportation". In campaign 1, frost giants and remorhaz from a northern citadel were pushing the warring tribes into the empire. Burg barbarians gather on the fourth Mystdas of First Seed to scream at a boulder (the Day of the Shouting Stone), and Orctoberfest in the Dottenland celebrates the ceasefire between the two nations (see The Calendar).

• Campaign 1: in March 2020 (real time) the Fatemakers crossed the Burg, took command of barbarian tribes and faced the ice demon Agmath. In the Ruination after The Skyfire many villages were swallowed, but Jarren's Outpost, with its cult of "Leadbelt the Saviour" (that is, Bralmur), held out.
• Campaign 3: Shade Hollow lies on the dry riverbed that marks the border with Potenxia. Thalorien Windspeak's gazetteer covers the northern Burg. Swamps in the demilitarised zone between the Burg and Potenxia were later reclaimed by Olive and Gurgle.

The Fatemakers' road through the Burg

During campaign 1 the Fatemakers travelled through a string of small cities in the Burg:

• In one of them the arch gelugon Agmath summoned the Diregraf Colossus, which they fought on the ice.
• Jarren's Outpost was the second-to-last city on the route.
• The Sphinx's Cave at Waves End held the sphinx that sent them back to the Calamity, near the Verdan, who cannot die.
• The goblin tinkerer Gurgle had her compound in the Burg.

The names of the other cities are still to be found.
